Is one of Italy’s oldest surviving theatres (second only to Naples’ Teatro San Carlo). Not only is it one of the oldest, but the Comunale is also one of the most original, never having needed more than minor restorations. Set in the center of this famous university town, the Teatro Comunale has made important contributions by shaping the attitudes of Bologna while adopting and adapting ideas from abroad.
This corner of the city is known as “little Venice”. Looking out among the buildings, you can see one of the few stretches of running water, which was not covered with asphalt between the beginning of the twentieth century and the postwar period.

This is one of the most important palace in Bologna, it was to house the lecture halls for the University Study (Law and Arts). Up to 1803 it was the seat of the University and since 1838 it has been housing the Civic Library. Remember to visit also the anatomical theatre
Also known as Sette Chiese (Seven Churches), is the most peculiar one in Bologna. This place was supposed to represent the places where the Passion of Christ had taken place (this would be testified by its old name: “Sacra Hierusalem”). It is an artistic and religious example unique in the world
The two towers Garisenda and Asinelli are the traditional symbol of Bologna, strategically standing where the old Aemilian way entered the town. In the late 12th century, at least one hundred towers dotted the town’s skyline, but today only twenty have survived the ravages of fire, warfare and lightning
